What is Wild Moor Running?

A person running on a grassy trail in a hilly area, only their legs and shoes are visible.
Three people holding drinks, two cups of coffee with latte art and one glass of iced coffee, making a toast.
Person running on a dirt trail through a wooded forest.
A person running through a sunlit forest trail, surrounded by tall trees and green foliage.

Lace up and head into the wild heart of the North York Moors on a Wild Moor Running guided group trail run that is as social as it is scenic. You’ll explore sweeping moorland, hidden valleys, and ancient tracks, with plenty of time to soak up the views and the shared buzz of moving through incredible landscapes together.

The pace is welcoming, the guidance expert, and with only a maximum of six runners, the group energy makes it easy to meet new like-minded people along the way.

After the run, there is an opportunity to continue the adventure with a little après-trail celebration— a drink, local food, and stories swapped with muddy shoes still on. It’s about the simple joy of achievement, connection, and being out there, together.

Who we are

The Founder of Wild Moor Running, Iain Yates, wants to introduce you to the trail runners’ paradise of the North York Moors National Park.

A runner all his life, growing up in a small village in this stunning National Park, Iain knows the beauty, history and challenge of this iconic landscape. Having run the world famous Trail du Mont Blanc (TMB) in 2023, Iain is bringing the camaraderie and fun of the group guided run back to Yorkshire!

I know that running in new places can be tricky. You are either stopping every 200 yards to check the map, not quite completely relaxing into the experience thinking that you might get lost, or the paths you have chosen are not that runnable, sodden with mud, or choked with vegetation.

At Wild Moor Running, we guide small groups of up to six people on bespoke routes, cherry picking the best the National Park has to offer with incredible view points, idyllic villages, exciting and flowing trails, and some Anglo-Saxon churches thrown in for good measure. Come join us."

Iain is a UK Athletics certified Run Leader with a qualification in fell, trail and off road running. Safety is paramount to us at Wild Moor Running, with all our guides Outdoor First Aid certified and Off Road Run Leader qualified.
